More and more people are looking to “green” their diets. Vegetarian foods are friendly to the environment and science proves they’re people-friendly too. A varied, plant-based diet is rich in nutrition that can help us maintain a healthy weight, healthier mind and healthier bodies.

Held March 26, 2011, Seattle’s Vegfest is the largest vegetarian food festival in the US. This year thousands of guests learned about vegetarian diets while sampling over 500 types of tasty vegetarian foods. Attendees also enjoyed cooking demonstrations and browsed the event’s “foodie fantasy” collection of cookbooks. It’s a great event and we heartily recommend it if you are in the Seattle area next spring!

Indianlife Foods served our delicious, all natural gourmet Indian foods and many Vegfest patrons returned for seconds and thirds! Indianlife owner Rakesh Raniga served up a smile and healthy info on the benefits of Indian food along with our sensational snacks, samosas and more. Digital reporter interviewed Rakesh at our booth. The health benefits of Indian food are going global, as more and more people realize that it’s good to eat and good for you!

These benefits include spices that may help reduce the risk and severity of inflammation-related diseases like arthritis and Alzheimer’s. Indian spices also help to promote a sense of satiety, so you can feel full with fewer calories consumed. And the beans, chickpeas and lentils in Indian foods are high in fiber that may help lower cholesterol levels.

You don’t need Vegfest, though or to spend hours cooking to enjoy these benefits. At Indianlife we do the preparation for you—just heat and serve for a healthful feast that’s high in fiber and high in flavor!
