Heart-Shaped Dhoklis for Valentine’s Day!

Heart Shaped Dhokli

This is Valentine’s Day weekend. We happened across this enticing recipe from Toka Box, an educational organization in California. With its heart-shaped homemade Dhokli, it’s timely and too good not to share!

Dal Dhokli is a spicy, satisfying Gujarati main-course recipe that’s ideal to curl up with on a chilly February night. Dhokli are spiced flour dumplings, simmered in wholesome Dal.

Often enjoyed on a Sunday, lentils used in this dish are traditionally “toor” or yellow lentils. But any lentils can be used — and all of them do your heart good. Lentils are rich in healthy soluble fiber and are low in fat and calories.

Try your favorite organic whole wheat flour for the dumplings or experiment with alternative flours if you’re gluten sensitive.

And don’t forget Indianlife Signature Spices! We’ve got the ingredients you need for gourmet flavor. Add Indianlife All Natural Homestyle Ghee, and you’ve got a dish sure to win anyone’s heart!

Happy Valentine’s Day weekend from all of us at Indianlife!
